Frequently asked questions
General
The Fierce Method™ is a trauma-informed, integrative therapy model designed to address underlying psychological distress caused by the ego. It incorporates empirically supported treatments such as EMDR, somatic therapy, attachment theory, and ego state work, along with personality insights from the Enneagram. The method focuses on increasing awareness of the ego's protective patterns, reducing reactivity, and supporting more adaptive functioning. Sessions are collaborative, focused, and individualized.
The Fierce Method goes beyond symptom management and weekly talk sessions to address the deeper roots of struggle. Instead of focusing mainly on insight or coping skills, it dismantles ego-based patterns (the False Self strategies that drive reactivity, avoidance, and disconnection) and rebuilds from the True Self with agency and alignment. Grounded in trauma-informed, somatic, and experiential practices like EMDR, Ego State Therapy, and the Gottman Method, it accelerates transformation through intensive, focused work that integrates mind, body, and relationships for lasting change.
The Fierce Method incorporates several evidence-based treatments, including:
• EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
• Somatic therapy principles
• Ego state and parts work
• Attachment-based and neurobiological approaches
We also use the Enneagram as a non-clinical framework to enhance self-understanding and guide treatment planning. While the Enneagram itself is not considered an evidence-based treatment, we use it as an adjunctive lens, similar to other personality-based or developmental frameworks used in integrative therapy. All clinical interventions are selected with attention to ethical standards and scientific support.
The Fierce Method is perfect for individuals and couples ready to dive deep into transformative psychological work. It's especially beneficial if you have a history of developmental or complex trauma, feel stuck despite previous therapy, struggle with emotional regulation or interpersonal dynamics, or are motivated to understand and shift longstanding patterns.
We offer different formats depending on client preference and treatment goals, but we do not provide standard 45 or 50 minute sessions. The Fierce Method is built for depth, efficiency, and long lasting results, which requires more concentrated time and focus than shorter sessions allow. Currently, we offer weekly or biweekly 75 minute sessions, as well as two types of intensives: half day (2 to 3 hours) and full day (4 to 6 hours). Lasting change happens by going deeper in focused, immersive therapy, and this is the heart of the Fierce Method.
We offer telehealth services in multiple states through PSYPACT, allowing licensed psychologists to practice across state lines. Check the current PSYPACT list to see if your state is included.
Yes. All sessions are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant video platforms. Telehealth has been shown to be effective for most forms of psychotherapy, particularly when structure and clinical rigor are maintained.
We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice for a 75 minute session, and 48 hours' notice for a half or full day intensives.
